but... lights and a real mike ... PLEASE. The basics of video are really easy and really apparent when ignored.

I think we understand the basics of video. When it comes to a microphone and lights, here's the rub: $$$. It would take an investment of about $2,000 to get a camera, microphone and lights for the production of a two-minute video. Is that kind of investment worth it? We're weighing it...
So right now, we're using a Sony Handycam (model DCR-HC42) that does not have an input for an external microphone, and ambient light. That won't be changing, at least for the near future.

I understand your concerns, Jason ... and I know and respect your level of expertise.
The lighting can be solved for well under $100... If the Sony does not have mike input, that is a thornier problem... so, tell the publisher to budget about $900 for a really good HD cam and mike... then use http://exposureroom.com instead of YouTube and show us Jon in HD ... well, okay, we can wait on that.

Do you not think that the current YouTube production of this feature is apropos? Gives it a crunchier feel that is in perfect alignment with the "X" n'est ce pas?
