A new executive director has just been named to take the reins of HandMade in America from founder Becky Anderson.
Penland resident Geraldine Plato will assume the position of executive director of HandMade, the premiere Western North Carolina crafts organization that works to promote crafts as an economic asset for the region and for its artists.
Plato, who served as assistant director of Penland School of Crafts and more recently as head of the Spruce Pine Montessori School, developing programs and fundraising in a four-county area, will begin her position with HandMade on March 1. For more details, see the story in our upcoming Feb. 6 print edition.
