"The Archers of Loaf were an indie rock band from North Carolina. There isn't a whole lot of information about them online, but this site will attempt to link to what I find," writes a sad-sounding fan. Well, cheer up, little camper, The Archers of Loaf are back!

"North Carolina indie rock underdogs Archers of Loaf haven't existed in 13 years, since the band broke up in 1998," wrote Pitchfork a few months back. "But those who attended Saturday night's gig by local indie-pop outfit the Love Language at Carrboro's Cat's Cradle venue got a bit of an unexpected surprise for an opening act: a full set from a reunited Archers of Loaf, their first since 1998."

The band (which formed in Chapel Hill in 1990, with all-Asheville members vocalist/guitarist Eric Bachmann, guitarist Eric Johnson, bassist Matt Gentling and drummer Mark Price) will perform at The Grey Eagle on Saturday, May 21. 9 p.m., $20 advance/$25 day or show.

About those advance tickets: They go on sale today (starting about an hour ago) at Harvest Records. Says the record store, in its newsletter, "Come to Harvest to get Archers of Loaf tickets for their reunion tour opener ... $20 cash money please (or check). Tell your friends."

Here's a bouncy but energetic video of "Wrong" from the band's Cat's Cradle reunion show:
