Calling all New Orleans ex-pats, New Orleans aficionados and lovers of les bons temps — Asheville's Mystic Mountain Krewe will host a Twelfth Night Celebration at ED Boudreaux's on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
The celebration kicks off the Mardi Gras season and features the presentation of the King Cake, and the crowning of the krewe’s new King and Queen (which, organizers note, could be you!). And the big purple LaZoom bus will take a crew of revelers around town to cheer Mardi Gras throughout the city.
Mystic Mountain Krewe is gearing up for the Mardi Gras Parade in February, with hard economic times inspiring this year's theme of "Riches to Rags." Want to join the parade? Here's info from the organizers: "Although Mystic Mountain is the organizing krewe, the group is currently enrolling additional krewes and individual revelers for parade entries. A “krewe” is social aid and pleasure club, per New Orleans tradition. Any group may enter as a krewe — friends, neighborhood groups, work colleagues, businesses, non-profits. Brainstorming is encouraged; the rule of the day is creativity, political satire and spoofing!"

Mardi Gras season is the only thing that gets me through the depression brought on by the end of football season. FYI - the Mystic Krewe of Munky Doux will hold a reunion "ball" on Saturday, Feb 21 at JOW. All former munkys and new members are invited. It is rumored that Go-Go Girlie Action may make an appearance...
