Charter continues to invest in its Buncombe County network, today announcing the introduction of Charter Internet Ultra60 service with speeds up to 60Mbps in several area communities. This ultra-fast service level has been added to Charter’s existing Internet services according to Anthony Pope, Vice President and General Manager for Charter’s operations in North Carolina. Charter is using DOCSIS 3.0 technology for Charter Internet Ultra60 launches, which also serves as the foundation to offer even faster connections in the future.
Charter previously served Buncombe County with Internet speeds up to 25Mbps, but has taken a major step up in speed with its Charter Internet Ultra60 service. Charter Internet Ultra60 service is available to Charter customers in Asheville, Black Mountain, Biltmore Town, Weaverville, Fletcher Town, Montreat and Woodfin.
“Charter is delivering faster speeds in the area today, and the network also has the capacity to support even higher speeds as Internet usage continues to evolve. Charter’s ability to provide increasingly greater speed and reliability is critical to our customers’ use and enjoyment of the Internet and delivers greater value,” said Mr. Pope. “It also highlights our growing superiority over the telephone company’s DSL service.”
Charter Internet Ultra60 enables customers to download a 1.6 gigabyte movie approximately 20 times faster than 3.0Mbps DSL service. Internet users also will find they can multitask more effectively. “With Ultra60, our high-speed customers can efficiently access multiple sources simultaneously to download music, watch a movie trailer, catch up on e-mail or surf the Internet on one screen,” Mr. Pope added.
As with all Charter Internet services, Ultra60 is ultra safe with Charter Security Suite for PC protection, including anti-virus, anti-spam, parental controls and much more, at no additional cost. Charter also offers additional value-added features including wireless home networking.
