Lots of sunshine makes for nice weather, but most of Western North Carolina — and much of the entire state — is in "abnormally dry" conditions. Some parts of the state are experiencing moderate drought, according to the N.C. Drought Monitor. While early fall is typically dry, conditions bear watching.
