The budget passed by the N.C. General Assembly includes closure of a Region Office at the N.C. Council for Women. As a result, the Department of Administration and the Council are making the necessary preparations to reduce staff and shut down the Northeast Region office, located in Greenville, effective June 30.
“The Council for Women remains committed to serving women and families affected by this difficult decision,” said Executive Director Jill Dinwiddie. “Grants managed by the Northeast Region office will be redistributed to ensure that essential programs and services remain available to those in need.”
Grants managed by the Council will be redistributed by county as follows:
REGION 1: Kathleen Balogh, Western Region Regional Director (828-251-6169)
Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Graham, Haywood, Henderson , Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford , Swain, Transylvania, Watauga and Yancey
REGION 2: Bernetta Thigpen, Northern Piedmont Region Director (704-563-3700)
Alamance, Alleghany, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Davie, Durham, Franklin, Forsyth, Guilford, Edgecombe, Granville, Halifax, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham , Stokes , Surry, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wilkes, Wilson and Yadkin
