Not so fast:
The Arcade bar, featured in the pages of this week's Xpress, was looking forward to its much-anticipated opening Friday, Dec. 17. Recent inclement weather interfered with construction, delaying the opening for a few days.
According to Arcade's Facebook page, which is service as the business' temporary website, the combination retro game room and sleek watering hole, will open sometime early next week:
"Arcade Asheville would like to let all of our friends know that due to weather conditions throwing a monkey wrench into our plans earlier in the week, we will NOT be opening this weekend. Don't fret, though! It only set us back a few days and we'll be open next week-keep checking here for updates."
In left field:
The Magnetic Field Cafe, Bar and Performance House recently opened in the long awaited Glen Rock Depot. Owner Chall Gray's new establishment offers dinner and a show with style. Currently, the stage is showing the 27th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular.
Over in the cafe and bar, however, a different kind of show is taking place. For one, Ken Klehm, former owner of the Rocket Club is mixing up drinks. Only time will tell whether bacon will show up in any of his concoctions. The dinner and lunch menus showcase some fairly interesting offerings, including a sticky rice, fried egg and lardon plate with seaweed. There's also a twist on a Monte Cristo sandwich featuring blackberry preserves.

I do not see how the Arcade will stay open. Who wants to play old video games in this day?
Hopefully the games are free.
One bar failed there...just saying.
Don't invest too much cash in this venture.
