From the press release:
Doctors and lawyers are preparing for a rumble right here in Western North Carolina. This face off isn’t what you might expect, however. Instead of being courtroom opponents, these MDs and JDs are athletic adversaries in the upcoming 2011 Sawbones vs. Jawbones Basketball Game and event being held on Thursday, October 13 at UNC-Asheville’s Justice Center. Add in half court fun at halftime with local legislators laying up their best shots—all to benefit two long-standing non -profits .
Proceeds from the Sawbones vs. Jawbones game and event will be used to benefit programs of the Western Carolina Medical Society Foundation and Pisgah Legal Services.
Though there is some rivalry between the teams (the docs won in year one and last year the attorneys won by one point!), the October 13th match-up is truly a light-hearted, family-friendly game. Tickets to the Sawbones vs. Jawbones game are $5.00. The VIP Tailgate Party Reception including a silent and live auction of extraordinary memorabilia and sports items starts at 5:30PM is $25 p.p. or $40 per couple. The Kids Zone will be available during the Tailgate party for youngsters to enjoy activities while Mom and Dad are enjoying the reception.
Chairman of the 2011 event is David Hart. Captain of the Sawbones (doctors) Team is Mark Hedrick and Ed Bleynat is the Captain of Jawbones (attorneys) Team.
