Arcade Asheville recently responded via Facebook to rumors about the changes to the popular video game arcade, dance club and bar. In the past several months, a variety of rumors have circulated about the business' long-term health as the bar transitions from restaurant to private club. The location may play a part on this as well, owing to the failure of the similarly niche-market bar The Joli Rouge in the same location in 2008.

RUMOR MILL: So I hate that I even have to do this but for the record... We are NOT going out of business or in bankruptcy; quite the opposite. We are actually looking at Boston and Charleston for new ARCADE locations. We closed our kitchen because we sell so much alcohol that we could never meet the 30% food sales required by NC to maintain our restaurant status. We are doing very VERY well, loving our new manager Chad McCrorie and bar manager extraordinaire Eric T Jorgensen, as well as our rockstar staff. Like any business, we are growing and learning all the time and Asheville has been there for us every step of the way. We very much appreciated our amazing clientele and will continue getting better and better every chance we get. We would also like to thank the rumor mill for the continued free (and very valuable) publicity. Keep up the chatter and get ready for a monster Halloween party!
