Here's the information via the Buncombe County website:

Buncombe County Commissioner Carol Peterson was recently appointed to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties (NACo). This appointment is an honor for Buncombe County and North Carolina because the federal government will be developing policy on a number of issues facing counties this year.

This steering committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to legislation affecting the economy of agricultural counties; rural development programs; and conservation and environmental programs affecting agriculture. In addition, the committee is responsible for oversight of platform amendments and resolutions from other steering committees that have a significant impact on counties.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is the only national organization that represents the Nation's 3,068 county governments before the Administration and Congress.
