Whether you choose to drive, hike, bike, glide or zipline, there are endless ways to explore Western North Carolina’s fall color show this weekend. But however you choose to view, don’t wait.

“Now is the time to see the fall colors,” said Sarah Conley with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in Bryson City. The railroad is running daily fall excursions through the Nantahala Gorge and Smoky Mountains through October.

“We’re getting ready for a peak in the next week,” she said.

“You can wait,” she added, but “it’s at your own risk.” ...
