From the press release:
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Western North
Carolina Chapter will celebrate National Philanthropy Day on Monday, Nov. 14, to honor
giving, givers and the causes they impact in WNC. Among those recognized will be the
Janirve Foundation, which will close in 2012 after supporting WNC’s nonprofits over the
past 26 years with grants that total over $100 million.
Approximately 400 individuals attend this luncheon annually to recognize outstanding
individuals, corporations, foundations and professionals who exhibit excellence in
promoting philanthropy. All previous winners, ranging over the event’s 19-year history,
are invited to attend and celebrate the current recipients—the result being a true “who’s
who” of philanthropy in WNC.
The Janirve Foundation will be presented with the Fundraising Summit Award, which is
reserved for an individual or organization whose contributions far exceed the criteria in
any one recognition category. This illustrious award has only been presented four times in
the past.
This year’s event will celebrate the remarkable contributions of Asheville Savings
Bank (Outstanding Business), Linda Wilkerson (Outstanding Fundraising Executive),
CarePartners Foundation (Outstanding Foundation), John Hartom and Lisa
Blackburn (Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers) and the Janirve Foundation
(Fundraising Summit Award recipient).
The National Philanthropy Day luncheon will be held at the Renaissance Asheville
Ballroom from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14. Tickets are $30 with a
reservation by Nov. 7, after which time they will increase to $40, and are for sale online at
www.afpwnc.org.Read the full article
