Compass Green, a fully functional greenhouse built in the back of a box truck, is making a stop in late October at Warren Wilson College. The greenhouse, powered by waste vegetable oil, grows vegetables and herbs.
On Oct. 27, there will be a free lecture on sustainability and the role of bio-intensive food production. The lecture, beginning at 7 p.m. in the College Chapel, will feature Compass Green's experiences with John Jeavons, pioneer and promoter of bio-intensive methods.
On Oct. 29, an all-day Bio-Intensive Gardening Workshop will be held at the Warren Wilson College Garden. It will focus on methods of sustainable farming – producing maximum yields with the minimum amount of resources. Advance registration is required for the workshop, which has a sliding fee scale for the public.
For more information on the workshop or lecture, contact Jay Bost at 828-771-7003 or jbost@warren-wilson.edu.
