Successful Biltmore Lake petition drive may stop Asheville's annexation attempt

The city’s bid to annex the Biltmore Lake subdivision could be officially over early next year.

A leader in the community’s fight against annexation says 90 percent of those eligible signed a petition to block the annexation.

That’s well more than the 60 percent required to declare the annexation null and void under recent state legislation.
