    • Of course everyone wants better schools. The question is whether the 1/4% sales tax referendum is the best option for ABTech.
Even though an August resolution clarified the money is “exclusively for the stated capital improvement needs of AB Tech”, future commissioners are NOT bound by past decisions and can easily pass resolutions diverting the money elsewhere, according to the N.C. School ...of Government.
N.C. House Bill 326 was introduced to GUARANTEE these funds for AB Tech. Martin Nesbitt stopped it. WHY? Commissioners could PROTECT taxpayers and students by issuing voter-approved BONDS only for AB Tech. and at a lower interest rate than non-voter-approved debt .
EXPENSES associated with improvements are not covered. How will faculty, staff, maintenance, insurance, and other expenses be paid: with tuition/fee INCREASES, or more “temporary” taxes?
AB Tech requested polling places on campus, not a precinct! Ethical?
