Western North Carolina Alliance has pulled together a coalition of groups and interests – from affordable housing to health to rural preservation to multimodal advocates – that will work to ensure that transportation and land use policies and plans here accommodate growth while also revitalizing communities, improving housing and travel choices, and conserving the natural environment and working landscapes.
Presenter Julie Mayfield is the Executive Director of the Western North Carolina Alliance. The Western North Carolina Alliance is a grassroots organization which aims to promote a sense of stewardship and caring for the natural environment. The Alliance's primary goal is to protect and to preserve our natural land, water and air resources through education and public participation in policy decisions at all levels of business and government.
The Alliance encourages its members to recognize the interrelationships among environmental issues and to take personal responsibility for achieving protection of the environment in their communities. You can visit their website at www.wnca.org .
