FROM BLUE RIDGE SUSTAINABILITY INSTITUTE:
The Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute (BRSI) and Asheville Independent Restaurants (AIR) will be hosting an innovative program to help local eateries go green next Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m at Posana Cafe.

“The Money Savings Menu: Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices for Restaurants” is an educational program for AIR members designed to help restaurant owners and managers reduce their on-site energy consumption.

The presentation, which emphasizes low cost and no cost measures that can result in significant savings, will be followed by a unique opportunity to participate in a peer-to-peer exchange with restaurant owners undergoing the Green Restaurant Association certification process. Participants will have the chance to share valuable tips and compare notes and lessons learned from the process, resulting in money saving and time value skills.

Among the participants are local restaurateurs from AIR’s own “Green Team,” who are dedicated to serving up sustainability on their daily menus. The program is funded by the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology’s Green Business Fund.

Members of the press are invited to this uniquely Asheville event which reflects the spirit of cooperation and community fostered by AIR and BRSI.Read the full article
