Four North Carolina men face jail terms for illegally harvesting ginseng root in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The men, charged in separate instances, pleaded guilty and were sentenced in federal court on Oct. 26 to between 15 and 120 days in jail, according to Anne M. Tompkins, U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, whose office prosecuted the case.
