The Western North Carolina AIDS Project held the annual AIDS awareness walk Saturday to remind people of the three ways HIV is spread: "sex, blood, and ignorance."

With signs like, "know your status," "get tested" and "use condoms," participants walked from Grove street down Patton avenue and gathered at Packs Square. Speakers included Michael Harney, who has 20 years experience in HIV/AIDS awareness activism, and Mayor Terry Bellamy.
