McDowell County's South Creek wines earn state and national awards

...This year, South Creek has received 12 awards for their Bordeaux-style vin rouge. Most recently, several were earned at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh. Silver medals were issued for their 2007 Maestro, 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2008 Merlot. ...

The appreciation of South Creek wines however, flows far beyond North Carolina. Over the summer, bottles were entered in the 2011 Finger Lakes Competition, an international event, where they took home bronze victories for their 2007 Maestro and 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. Another competition, the 2011 Atlantic Seaboard Competition, consisting of 15 states, won them a gold medal for their 2007 Maestro, silver medal for their 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, and bronze for the 2008 Merlot. The NexGen Competition, held in Long Beach, Cal., brought home a bronze for the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon and silver for the 2007 Maestro.
