Veterans and their families ate free at Fig Bistro on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 24. One VietNam U.S. Army veteran, Gary Shoemaker, was there with his wife, Susan (photo above). Gary and Susan met via Craigslist about four years ago. He had just moved to Asheville and she was looking for someone to watch her house. Now, it's a great story.

They both agree: The food was great too.
