Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:
ASHEVILLE - On November 24, 2011 around 3:30 p.m. Asheville Police responded to a report of a Hit and Run on Broadway St.just north of I-240 and Merrimon Ave. The departments Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the Hit and Run and asking for the publics assistance in locating the vehicle and driver, the suspect vehicle is described as a light colored Ford Truck with right front end damage, the truck was traveling from downtown Asheville and continued northbound on Broadway St. The victim has been identified as Mell Andree Ailes Sr., 57 year old. Mr. Ailes was transported to Memorial Mission Hospital where he was succumbed to his injuries. Anyone with information can call Asheville Police @ 252-1110 or Asheville Buncombe Crimestoppers @ 255-5050.
