FROM WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION:
At 2 p.m. on Dec. 10, the Smith-McDowell House Museum will host a special Christmas event for children and families.

John and Lori Turk, other volunteers at Smith-McDowell House, and Lisa Whitfield, the museum’s Education Coordinator, will present a program of Christmas readings from a variety of children’s Christmas books. Of course, there will be the singing of Christmas carols and a group recitation of “A Visit From St. Nicholas” (also known as “The Night Before Christmas”).

“This is becoming a Christmas tradition for us and for our visitors," says Whitfield. “I think we enjoy it as much as the children.”

Cost for the program, which includes light refreshments, is $5.00 for adults and children are free.

Reservations are not required, but you may call 828-253-9231 or email education@wnchistory.org to let us know you are coming or for questions about the event.
