Here's the press release:
What: Opening of Bothwell congressional campaign office
Where: 271 Tunnel Rd., Asheville (behind Chili's)
When: Sunday, Dec. 18, 3-5 p.m.
Contact: Bothwell for Congress, (828) 209-8806
The Bothwell for Congress campaign has opened an Asheville office in a storefront at 271 Tunnel Road. We'll hold an open house on Sunday, Dec. 18 to welcome the public to the new headquarters, with snacks and beverages.
Bothwell said, "The new campaign headquarters is central to the 11th District, whether we are running on the old lines or the new map proposed by the wild-eyed Republicans in Raleigh."
Bothwell is challenging incumbent Blue Dog Heath Shuler in the May 8 primary election.
"We expect to win the Democratic primary, walking away," Bothwell observed. "Heath Shuler votes with the Republicans on most important issues. He supports the 1 percent against the rest of us at every opportunity. He opposes the President's jobs plan and he wants $4 trillion in federal spending cuts. Those cuts would slash support for earned benefit programs like Social Security and Medicaid, slash support for education and increase unemployment.I think WNC voters have had enough of corporate rule, which is why I won't accept Shuler-style corporate donations for my campaign."
