Local elementary school goes green one lunch tray at a time

The lunchroom at Isaac Dickson Elementary is getting a little greener.

The school recently gave up Styrofoam trays at lunch — instead opting for the old fashioned reusable kind.

The move followed a push by the school’s “green team” as well as students and some parents. But it was funding that allowed the change to finally happen, said Beth Palien, child nutrition director for Asheville City Schools.
