A winter grazing workshop for area farmers will be held Dec. 16 from 12:30 to 4:30 pm in Haywood County. Participants will meet at the Haywood County Agriculture Building and then visit winter-grazing sites at the Mountain Research Station, and at the farms of Hugh Russell and Buddy Melton. At the last stop, participants will get hands-on experience setting up portable fencing.
Leaders of the workshop will include Dr. Matt Poore from NC Cooperative Extension and John Ottinger from the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
