Karen Pollpeter Brzostoski had a wonderful life. She was an artist, wife and mother of two young daughters who embraced an optimistic outlook. This positive approach to life bolstered her spirits up until her death from breast cancer on Nov. 26 of this year.

Karen used holistic treatments to battle cancer, an expensive undertaking that continues to tax her family. Her husband and daughters are in need of support and Asheville is just the place to find comfort in the community. A fundraising auction will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Jubilee! Community church. This is a chance to celebrate her life while supporting the family she left behind.

Karen was described as the “artistic one” in her large family and expressed her creativity through painting. She was active in the homeschool community and believed in the “sacredness of childhood… and in the lasting value of kindness and compassion.” Family and friends continue to post messages of hope and comfort on her website www.karenswonderfullife.com

“Karen was a great listener and a master at unconditional love,” recalls her sister Greta on her website. “She was one of the most optimistic people I know. She was always looking on the bright side and thinking positively.”

The benefit auction will feature rafting passes, bed and breakfast getaways and gift certificates to a wide range of local businesses.

The fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Jubilee!, 46 Wall St. in downtown Asheville. Free to attend (food and drink included). Childcare will be provided. Info: http://auctionbenefit.weebly.com
