Local artist Julie Armbruster will celebrate the final installment of her Professor Wunderbar saga, The Future of the Feline Infiltration Front, with an art opening and release party at Izzy's Coffee Den on Friday, Jan. 6 from 7-9 p.m. The three-part, limited-edition zine "illustrates the story of a self-driven idealist who overcomes her own reluctance and risks her life to maintain diversity and independent thought," according to a press release for the event. DJ Kutzu will provide music at the reception.
The show, which runs through the end of January, will include pieces from all three zines and serve as "a room-sized installation of the entire story."

"Julie Armbruster has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the East Coast and abroad, including the School of Architecture in Venice, Italy, 80 Washington Square Gallery in New York and Rebus Works in Raleigh, N.C. Often seeking shows in alternative spaces, her work has been exhibited in skate shops, bars, music venues, restaurants and record shops.
"In addition, her work is in permanent public collections including Mission Children's Hospital and the United Way Building in Asheville, N.C.
"Julie Armbruster was born in Voorhees, N.J. in 1979 and has lived in New York most of her life. She received a Masters in Painting from New York University in 2004 and has studied abroad in Italy and Germany. Following grad school, she moved to Asheville, N.C. where she maintains a studio in the Wedge Studios in the River Arts District."
