Hendersonville plans to open Berkeley Park in spring

The city of Hendersonville is planning to open Berkeley Park to the public this spring, now that safety factors have been addressed and several upgrades have been completed.

A steering committee has also been formed to focus on the park's future, and city officials will work with a former West Henderson High graduate at Clemson University to create a master plan for the property, which was given to the city by Kimberly-Clark in 2009.

For now, the park will offer walking trails and plenty of open space. A ballfield on the property will continue to be used by teams that play at the park, but will not be available for public use. Ferguson said the master plan the council continues to work on for the park may have a different plan for the ballfield in the future.
