New rockslide may delay I-40 reopening, WWNC570 reports

Noon Friday, Feb. 3, the North Carolina Department of Transportation reported that a new rockslide at mile 7 may delay the reopening of westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee-North Carolina line, WWNC 570 radio reported. "The road is blocked off at Exit 20. The new slide is not affecting travel on I-40 eastbound. DOT engineers are on the scene assessing the extent of the slide. Tennessee crews had planned to have the first slide cleaned up and the road reopened Monday."
