Multimodal transportation is a growing concern in the Asheville area, and tonight, Feb. 6, city residents are invited to join the conversation.
A group of concerned business owners and neighborhood residents recently asked that the city revisit a 2002 study which examined the Charlotte Street corridor and options for making the busy thoroughfare more pedestrian friendly. City of Asheville Transportation Department staff will discuss those findings, along with options for redirecting traffic patterns between the I-240 overpass and the Edwin Place intersection, tonight during a community meeting at the Jewish Community Center, 236 Charlotte St.
In addition to presentations from city staff, the meeting will offer residents an opportunity to guide the proposed changes by voicing their suggestions and concerns early in the process. According to a press release from the city, "Input from neighborhood residents and area businesses is an essential next step before a project proposal is developed." The meeting is open to all and begins at 6:30 p.m.
