Get out of the house and into woods with The Nature Conservancy this spring. The organization’s Work and Learn programs encourage naturalists of all kinds to learn orienteering, improve their nature photography and learn about salamanders --- all in an effort to remove invasive species from critical areas. Participants spend part of the day removing invasive plants and the other half learning about a topic relating to nature.
Earlier this month, a winter tree identification party at Bat Cave Preserve in Hickory Nut Gorge as a big success. If you missed it, there are several chances to join in this spring.
The dates and topics are as follows:
February 27th 10am-4pm: Orienteering
March 15th 10am-4pm: Nature Photography
March 28th 9am-3pm: Nature Art
April 10th 9am-3pm: Salamander Crawl
April 26th 9am-3pm: Spring Wildflowers
To register for any of these Work and Play Parties, contact Becky at mtns_volunteers@tnc.org or 350-1431 x105. Be sure to include your name, phone number and email address.
