On Saturday, April 28 from 4:30-9:30 p.m., QuickDraw will gather together 40 artists from Western North Carolina to show off their skills. Painters, woodworkers, collage and mixed-media artists will race the clock to create a work in just one hour in front of a live audience, all for a good cause.
The event benefits the arts in Haywood County, including college scholarships for students interested in pursuing the arts and grants for teachers looking for innovative ways to bring art into the classroom.
The event is just as much fun for the artists as it is for the audience. Oil painter Joyce Schlapkohl, a volunteer artist at past QuickDraw benefits, describes the experience as a “unique opportunity to help our community. There's an excitement and energy about the evening that I enjoy.”
In addition to QuickDraw's spontaneous acts of creativity, the evening will feature a live auction followed by a meet-the-artists buffet social.
Saturday, April 28, 4:30-9:30 p.m. Held at Laurel Ridge Country Club, 49 Cupp Lane , Waynesville. $50. Info and tickets: www.wncquickdraw.com
