The Twin Rivers Multimedia Festival returns

The Twin Rivers Multimedia Festival, based in Asheville, returns with a lineup that spans multiple weekends. Events takes place at the Courtyard Gallery (109 Roberts Street at Phil Mechanic Studios).

This year's festival — the 19th! — "offers the community a chance to view interesting films, enjoy good food and drink, and mingle with special guest filmmakers." Films are based in Moscow, Milan, Paris and futuristic Israel.

Also, according to a press release, "The Flood Fine Arts Center Library is the venue for the opening night festivities, which include food and wine, and live music. The opening night movie, Liberia, Monamour is a drama from the Russian Federation shot entirely in Siberia about a young child living with his grandfather who befriends on of the feral dogs that has killed his uncle."

Screenings are free, but donations are suggested.

Friday, May 25
• Siberia, Monamour, directed by Slava Ross from Moscow, Russia. 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 26
• American Veterans: Discarded and Forgotten, by filmmaker Gary Null from New York, N.Y., 11 a.m.
• pot luck lunch discussions with the Veterans for Peace and members of the Baha’i faith, noon-1 p.m.
• Education Under Fire directed by Jeff Kaufman, 1 p.m.
• Documentary Films, Animation and Experimental Film Winners in the Flood Fine Arts Center Library, 1:30-8 p.m.
• Short Drama Films at Courtyard Gallery, 1:30-8 p.m.

Sunday, May 27
• Documentary Films at Courtyard Gallery, 1-6 p.m.
• Animation/Experimental and Commercial Film Winner in the Flood Fine Arts Library, 1-6 p.m.

Friday, June 1
• The Duck Hunter, directed by Egidio Veronesi from Modena, Italy, 8 p.m.

Friday, June 8
A.L.F. by Lescure Jerome from Paris, France, 8 p.m.
