On June 2, Green Opportunities will be raffling an electric bicycle at Burton Street Community Day. The raffle begins now until June 2 at six o’clock pm. The electric bicycle comes from Fast Lane Electric Bikes which had its grand opening in the River Arts District on Saturday May 12, 2012. They will also be selling raffle tickets.
The electric bike being raffled, called a Stromer, is considered one of the highest quality electric bikes currently on the market. “It’s one of the more popular electric bikes in Europe,” said Brent Meyers, director of sales for Legacy E-Ride, which distributes the electric bikes in the United States. This bike is valued at $3,299. Fur Banks, co-owner of Fast Lane Electric Bikes, calls the bike “bridging the gap between bike and scooter, allowing you to get somewhere and get some exercise without being totally sweaty.”
The raffle will take place at 6:45pm on June 2 at Burton Street Community Center. It is part of the Burton Street Community Day presented by GO. Additional sponsors for the event include Asheville Parks & Recreation, Open Doors, Moog Foundation, and Urban Arts Institute. In addition to the raffle drawing, the event includes a talent showcase with special guests, a breakdancing workshop, a basketball tournament, a performance by Urban Arts Institute, an inflatable bounce house provided by Par-T-Perfect, a silent auction, food catered by GO Kitchen Ready, and a dance party with DJ Ozo.
This event is free and open to all ages. Proceeds from the raffle go to benefit Green Opportunities.
