We saw it first on Songkick: Indie-folk-rock-radio-darlings Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (go ahead and click that link… it's very rainbow-y) will play Asheville's Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 27.
The info is not yet listed on the Civic Center website, though Songkick lists the tickets at $28 and on sale this Friday, June 22.
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (for the uninitiated) is not actually led by a guy named Sharpe, but by singer-songwriter Alex Ebert of power-pop group Ima Robot. Ebert grew up with a music-loving father and his influences range from Patsy Cline and Pavaroti to hip-hop (according to Mother Jones he was originally planning to be a rapper). That kind of makes sense considering the everything-but-the-kitchen sink feel of the Magnetic Zeros, whose particular brand of raucous folk is parts Avett Brothers and part Gogol Bordello. Probably way more parts the former.
