For the last few years (at least) there has been an ongoing musical conversation between Asheville and New Orleans. Some of our better-known street performers — folks like Aaron Gunn, The Big Nasty and Balkan Death Grip — are hardly strangers to NOLA's busking scene, and perhaps as a result, Asheville has become part of the touring busker's roadmap as a musician-friendly place. In fact, these days it's hardly surprising to see an entire New Orleans-based band drop in for a week or two, almost taking up an artistic residence on the street corners. That, in effect, was the case with Yes Ma'am!, a band with very strong connections to many local jazz acts. In fact, although Yes Ma'am! has never been featured on Busk Break before, almost all of the members have appeared in at least one video. (For a fun game for those of you familiar with the project, see how many faces you recognize and post their names in the comments.) Here, they perform their original tune "The Weight of the World" in front of the Woolworth Walk.
