According to the Hendersonville Times-News:
A missing person was located early Saturday morning near Peter Guice Bridge, according to a news release from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Jenai Taree Bounds, 45, of Polk County, was reported missing at 10:47 p.m. Friday to the sheriff’s office after she went kayaking alone on the Green River and failed to arrive for pick up between 8 and 9 p.m. at Galimore Road in the Big Hungry area of Henderson County, according to the release. Bounds started her trip at Pot Shoals Road, where her vehicle was located. A member of Blue Ridge Fire Department reported to have spoken to Bounds at 3:30 p.m. when she was putting her boat in the Green River. It was also reported to a deputy the victim did not take a helmet or a life jacket and was barefoot, according to the release.
The Blue Ridge Fire Department was contacted to initiate a ground search. Due to the rugged terrain and darkness, the North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter was requested to assist in the search.Read the full article
