"This is where health care is moving. Health care is moving toward a regional network of care, and being easy, accessible and close to home," Timms says. "We love the hospital. It's wonderful, if you've got a situation and you need Mission Hospital, we're awfully glad we're here for you. But if it's things that can be handled close to home with a family practice doctor, all the more convenient. We hope that this (Mission My Care Plus) will get people healthier quicker and keep them out of a tertiary care facility."
And the care provided at this new health care facility, Timms emphasizes, will be tailored to families. Though the initial hours will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Mission My Care Plus will eventually offer extended hours.
Though the new health care practice will operate as an extension of Mission Health, Timms says Mission My Care Plus will be distinctly different from the campus of Mission Hospital — starting with the logo and branding. Traditionally, Mission's logo has been a green cross with a dogwood flower within part of the cross. For Mission My Care Plus, the logo has changed — a color variation on the green cross and additional text.
"This is important. This is the first time we've ever gone off brand because this is a separate and individual brand for Mission Health. It's part of the family, but it's going at another angle," Timms says.
However, she confirms, this will not be the last primary care facility Mission Health will open.
"This is the beginning of a brand. We'll have more specifics about locations and how many in the next few weeks," Timms states.
Mission My Care Plus will be located at 1388 Sand Hill Road, Candler, N.C. Mountain Xpress and other members of the media will tour the facility this Thursday, Aug. 23. Look for a post from Xpress shortly after that morning tour.
