Farm Burger, which has two other locations in Atlanta and a third in development, will take up residence at 10 Patton Ave. and begin modifying the space for restaurant use. “If we're shooting for a time [to open], it would be late winter, early spring of 2013,” co-owner George Frangos told Xpress.
Farm Burger and its sister restaurant, Farm 255, have a reputation for sourcing local, sustainable meats. The restaurants organize a food co-op called Moonshine Meats. Frangos says that Asheville area farms will have the opportunity to join Moonshine Meats as suppliers of the new Farm Burger.
“We expect it to be a big piece of the community,” Frangos says. “Our intention isn't to just bring something from Atlanta and Decatur to Asheville. Look at all the resources and the farms that Asheville and the surrounding area have to offer. We're going to integrate that into what we do. We're not sort of bringing a slice of Georgia to North Carolina.”
Below the burger joint, the upstart One World Brewing will set up a brewery and retail operation in the basement of the building. It had been previously reported that One World would open in the basement of the former Ed Boudreaux's space, next to Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria.
“I'm going to be doing a community-supported brewery. People can buy a monthly share of beer,” says Jason Schutz, brewer. “I'm going to have a little tavern down in the basement, and the Farm Burger will be selling my beer upstairs too.”
The Leader building previously housed an antique store.

Thank goodness for one more resteraunt downtown that does not serve overpriced trendy rabbit food.
As for the homeless remarks on FB, I have seldom encountered a panhandler on that end of Patton Avenue.
