North Carolina governor Bev Perdue toured the facilities of Asheville’s Highland Brewing Company and Troy & Sons Distillers Friday, meeting with the companies’ owners and sampling their products. The 90 minute tour was light-hearted and punctuated with candid remarks from the governor, who said the event was particularly relaxing because she’s not running for re-election.

Perdue was guided by Oscar Wong, owner and founder of Highland Brewing, and Charlie Ball, co-owner and master distiller of Troy & Sons. Ball raised issues about certain aspects of NC law and Alcoholic Beverage Control policy that prohibit Troy & Sons from selling their product directly to the public. The tour lasted about 90 minutes in total.
