Here's the press release from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort:

SUGAR MOUNTAIN SKI RESORT, NORTH CAROLINA. OCTOBER 22, 2012 In the deep South snow matters. Peaking at 5,300 feet above sea level, 36 degrees latitude and 81 degrees longitude Sugar Mountain Ski Resort's chances of receiving natural snow are good. Season snowfall can reach as high as 130 inches. Combine that with state-of-the-art technology, a dedicated operations team, a population of outdoor enthusiasts and Southern skiing is booming.

A quarter of a million dollar investment helps. Eight fully-automated, hi-tech, SMI and Techno Alpin snow machines are new to the current snow-making system. "As weather varies throughout the season, upgrades every year including the addition of snowmaking machines allow for higher energy efficiency and provide better and more consistent slope conditions. The quality of our product is critical. Snow matters!" said Gunther Jochl, Sugar Mountain Resort President.

Sugar Mountain Resort is North Carolina's largest snow-sports resort; providing the best skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, tubing and snowshoeing experience possible. Historical winter season opening and closing dates as well as annual snowfall can be found at www.skisugar.com/press/stats.
