From the press release:
Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 7pm - The Asheville Insight Meditation group proudly announces their first meditation sangha event led by Lila Kate Wheeler: a well-known and respected Vipassana meditation teacher.
Lila Kate Wheeler started practicing yoga when she was 12 and Buddhist meditation at age 21. She has been teaching since the 1980s and has sustained her practice in many Buddhist and Hindu meditative traditions. She traveled to Burma where she was ordained as a nun in 1988, and has studied at Dharma centers in the United States, India, Nepal, and Tibet. In addition to her Dharma teaching, Lila works as a writer, editor, and journalist. She had a Radcliffe Fellowship in 2008 to support her novel writing and lives in Somerville, MA.
“Ms. Wheeler has been very generous by agreeing to lead a Sunday evening sangha session here in Asheville, right before leading a five-day comprehensive Vipassana meditation retreat at Hot Spring’s Southern Dharma Retreat Center”, says Ronya Banks: Asheville Insight Meditation group’s leader.
This event will occur at the Women’s Wellness Center in Asheville, North Carolina and is open to anyone who wants to enhance his or her meditation or spiritual practice. Following a group meditation that evening, Ms. Wheeler will be providing a relevant teaching, and then she will answer attendee questions.
