• Local funk collective Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band will be spending New Year's Eve (on stage) in Greensboro — but first they have a local show in the works. They'll kick-off their New Year’s run on Friday, December 28 at Pisgah Brewing Company. Jam band The Mantras also performs, and DJ Molly Parti opens. 9 p.m. $12 in advance and $15 day of show.
• Total war, despite its name, is sweet and gentle. The local indie-rock outfit opened for Twin Shadow earlier this year (read a review of that show here). And now they'll close out the year at the Lab on Saturday, Dec. 29. Albert Adams, Taylor Rogers and Decent Lovers also perform. 9:30 p.m., $5.
