Water decisions belong in LOCAL hands!
Sign the petition NOW!
Early in the legislative session that starts on Jan. 30, a bill will be introduced by two western Representatives to force the City of Asheville to turn over its water distribution system and watershed to the county's Metropolitan Sewerage District.
Such a bill could set a dangerous precedent of interference by the General Assembly in decisions about local water supplies, threatening the local rights of municipalities with water systems across the state!
YOU can help stop this bill today!
Sign the petition to oppose the forced taking of municipal water systems! Legislative interference in local water decisions:
• Could set a precedent affecting other cities throughout the state
• Removes local control
• Disrupts the abilities of local governments to invest in infrastructure improvements, set rates and make other important decisions
Watch for another e-mail next week with information on contacting your legislators about opposing this potentially harmful, precedent-setting legislation.
