Asheville City Council preview: West Asheville in the spotlight

Tonight, Asheville City Council will meet at 6 :30 p.m. at Hall Fletcher Elementary for a community meeting dealing with the needs of the West Asheville area.

Whenever a month has a fifth Tuesday, Council holds a meeting in one of Asheville's neighborhoods.

West Asheville has seen a revival in recent years, with more businesses, redevelopment, and local neighborhoods from Burton Street to the eastern part of West Asheville forming community groups to advocate for their interests. Increased development, including the announcement of New Belgium's brewery nearby, have caused discussion about what direction the area should evolve in.
