"APD's case is suspended inactive," Lt. Dave Romick, the department's spokesperson, wrote to Xpress. "The DA's office and Rep. Moffitt's office were notified at least two weeks ago."
"They should lock up all the gays on their own island. Except for the lesbians. Y'all can have them!" Moffitt's account tweeted on Sept. 19. The tweet was deleted a few minutes later; he offered an apology to his followers and promised that "appropriate security measures will be taken."
Moffitt initially reported the incident to the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 25, and it turned the case over to the APD in November due to "the abilities of our cyber crime unit," Sgt. Michael Lamb noted at the time.

Did they even attempt to contact Twitter?
By the way, hacking someone's communications is a FEDERAL offense. Has anyone contacted the FBI?
