A close friend and coworker of Asheville artist Anna Jensen received the diagnosis. The navy veteran, husband, father and bar manager at the Junction is up against statistically overwhelming odds. But Jensen and close friends and family are unflinching in their optimism.
To help with his medical bills, Jensen has put together a fundraising art-event evening that she’s calling the “Emergency Art Benefit: Help Jason Kick Cancer’s Ass.” Spirits are high, as even the event’s Facebook page has a picture of Dolly Parton giving the finger — to cancer, of course. So if you are an art enthusiast, collector or simply willing to donate, Monday is your night.
The current roster includes a bevy of area artists with just as many mediums, spanning a multitude of styles and skill sets, both original work and prints. Stephen Lange, Hannah Dansie, Peter Parpan, Marin Mitchell, Moni Hill, Micah Mackenzie, Andy Herod, Rob Hunt, Mark Schieferstein, Taiyo La Paix, Brian Mashburn, Leila Almeiri, James Daniel, Nicole McConville, Severn Eaton and Jensen are slated to have work up for sale. All proceeds go to Jason and his family. There will undoubtedly be more additions by the time Monday rolls around, so expect this list to grow.
This event is being held at a private address in a low-traffic residential area. However, if you are serious about donating funds and acquiring works of art by some of Asheville’s finest, please contact email@example.com or myself at firstname.lastname@example.org And please consider carpooling, as there’s only limited street parking.
