Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation District’s (BCSWCD) annual tree sale will be held February 28 - March 2 at Jesse Israel and Sons Garden Center at the WNC Farmer's Market. The sale will begin on Thursday and run through Saturday or until we are out of seedlings.
Dates & Times:
Thursday, February 28, noon - 5 p.m.
Friday, March 1, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday, March 2, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. or until out of stock
Seedlings are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the days of the sale.
Preorders:
Preorders must be picked up by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at Jesse Israel and Sons. Advance orders not picked up by 5 p.m. on Friday will be released for sale.
Eastern White Pine seedlings are 25¢ each and the hardwood species are 75¢ each.
The following species are available for preorder and on sale dates:
White Pine
Black Walnut
Butternut
Persimmon
River Birch
Flowering Dogwood
Sycamore
Eastern Redbud
Southern Crabapple
Crape Myrtle
Northern Red Oak
White Oak
All seedlings are bare root and range in height from 10 inches to 36 inches. March is the ideal time of year to plant bare root seedlings. Species such as Crabapple, Persimmon, Butternut and White Oak bear fruit/nuts for wildlife.
